Child Protection Services
Pennington County Human Services assists in child protection matters such as intervention, prevention and resolution of child abuse and neglect. Child protection Social Workers, in cooperation with law enforcement personnel, assess reports of maltreatment of children. In addition to assessment services, social services may provide protective services, individual and family counseling, out-of-home placement and case management.

Child & Teen Checkups
Child and Teen Check-Ups are well child visits for children ages birth through 20 eligible for Medical Assistance and Minnesota Care.
They include:
- Vision and hearing check
- Laboratory tests, including lead, blood and urine as needed
- Immunizations if needed
- A complete head to toe physical assessment
- Health education and counseling about health lifestyles
- Nutrition assessment
- Developmental assessment
